Council Summary 11/30/12
1. Approval of Minutes
2. Reports
[Mod] Mr. Campbell is in favor of creating a scheduling committee.
[Sec] Please remember to email me if you are not going to be in Council or if you are going to be late. 6 tardies or 2 unexcused absences will put you into probation. Thank you!
[PR] I am working with the Dresden Communication Committee so I will report back to you. Also I will be making a few Bylaw revisions regarding missing class to attend standing committees or Council meetings.
[Admin] We talked about class committee attendance.
[SL] We emailed Patty Armstrong and Mr. Jackson about the plus one aspect of the Golden Ticket. We are also discussing playing music in the atrium on Fridays.
[SA] Bombardment is on Tuesday! Sign ups are in  the atrium.
[Tech] We are working on the Acceptable Use Policy.
[COI] Next meeting is Dec. 13. We will be approving revisions to next year’s program.
[Chris] The Environmental Club will be selling mugs.
3. DEC Rep Vote
  • There was a vote to elect a council member to be a representative on the Dresden Education Committee, which deals with policies related to the school.
  • B Sachsse was voted to be the DEC Rep.
4. Scheduling Committee Motion
  • Motion: I move to immediately form a committee of students, teachers and community members to address scheduling concerns.
  • Discussion:
    • It would be nice to have a committee separate from Council to look into scheduling options. There has been a lot of talk about scheduling changes, such as Plan M, Plan C, and the Late Start Motion.
    • We should fail this motion and bring it back as a recommendation for Administration to create this committee. As it stands now if we pass this motion it will be a Council committee.
Motion Fails.
5. Notes & New Business
  • Motion: I move to recommend that administration create a committee of students, teachers and community members to address scheduling concerns.
  • Discussion:
    • I would like to see this committee be bigger than Council. If administration does it then it can incorporate more outside representatives.
    • This will allow the conversation about scheduling to go beyond Plan M and Plan C. It will be a standing committee which can further the discussion about scheduling.
Motion Passes.
